Faith & Work 101

“What do you do?”

You’ve almost certainly been asked this question recently, or perhaps you’ve asked someone else. There is something about work that is deeply connected to our sense of identity and even our self-worth. But why is that? Is that a good thing? And if we, especially as New Yorkers, so easily define ourselves by the work we do, why can work also leave us feeling so frustrated, anxious, or unfulfilled?

Faith & Work 101 is an introductory five-week, cross-vocational course designed to help you take an in-depth look at what Scripture says about your work. By tracing the story of the Bible, we’ll explore God’s intention for work and how our everyday vocations fit into his larger work of renewal.

Each week will weave together biblical teaching, spiritual practices, daily devotionals, and group discussion. If you’ve ever wondered whether your work matters, how your faith connects to what you do Monday through Friday, or whether God even cares about your work, this class is for you.

The fall session will meet in person on Monday nights from 7 to 9 pm, beginning October 19, at Redeemer East Side. Participants will also receive readings and devotionals to engage with throughout the week.
