SUMMARY:"Show Up and Show Out" Art Exhibit Opening Reception by AHRC NYC’s Fisher Center Artists
DESCRIPTION:The W83 Gallery and the AHRC New York City Foundation present “Show Up and Show Out“\, an exhibition by artists who attend the Fisher Center\, a day program that serves adults with intellectual disabilities in East Harlem. \nThe interests of the artists span a broad range of subject matter\, including portraits\, flowers\, cartoon characters\, famous singers and movie stars\, letters\, geometry and abstraction. A love of color is a central theme of the work. \nThrough their artwork\, the artists gain a sense of purpose\, accomplishment and self-esteem. They also find a sense of community in the art studios at the center as the artists work together to realize their projects. \nWe hope this exhibition shows that creativity lives in everyone\, and that all people bring their own aesthetic sensibility to the world. \nExhibit opens on Friday\, December 1 and runs through Monday\, January 29.  \nTICKETS

DESCRIPTION:Jennifer Ahn explores beauty and brokenness in her abstract paintings\, inviting the viewer into emotions and narratives of loss and hope. DESOLATION | CONSOLATION is her first solo exhibit\, featuring a body of work that confronts the darkness that surrounds us and points to a light that the darkness does not overwhelm. \n			\n						Register\n					 \nAbout the artist \nJennifer Ahn is a Korean-born American painter who grew up in the Northwest and now lives in New York City. She incorporates landscapes and stories from her extensive travels as well as people she’s met on her journeys as important themes in her paintings.
