Prelude
Welcome | Alan Charnock, Director of Community Engagement
Call to Worship | Psalm 96:1-3
Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.
All: Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
Song of Praise | You Alone
We will sing a new song for You
Of Your power, salvation, and truth
You are the victory
You can never be moved
On our knees we will worship You, Lord
On our knees we will worship You, Lord
Here with this offering
We come into Your courts
(Chorus)
Splendor and might, beauty and light
You alone are the Lord
You alone are the Lord
Glory and strength, great is Your name
You alone are the Lord
You alone are the Lord
Trembling here at Your feet
The whole earth, the whole earth is singing
Let our idols fall worthless aside
Those glittering, treacherous lies
We come to the richness
Of the Lord God on high
Let the seas rejoice with a shout
Let the fields and the forests cry out
Creation exulting
Let us sing it out loud!
(Chorus)
Song of Praise | Blessed Be Your Name
Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say
(Chorus)
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s all as it should be
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say
Chorus (2x)
Bridge (2x)
You give and take away,
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
Prayer of Adoration (concluded by the Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Silent Praise and Thanksgiving

Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
Silent Confession
Words of Encouragement | Psalm 103:8, 11-12
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Prayers of the People
Song of Praise | So Great Is Your Love
You are compassionate and gracious
Slow to anger, abounding in love
For as high as the heavens
Are above all the earth
(Chorus)
So great is your love
Your love for those who fear You
As far as the east is from the west
So far have you removed my sins
From me, from me
For you remember how you’ve made us
Out of earth, returning again
My life blooms like a flower
In a field, then it’s gone

Scripture Reading | Acts 6:1-7
1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”
5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith. (NIV)
Sermon | Serving the Church by Rev. Andrew Field
Reflection Song | Bind Us Together
Bind us together within your love
Bind us together within your holy love
As we shared in our sorrows
We will share in your joy
Bind us together in love
Bind us together and be our peace
Bind us together and be our perfect peace
Though the tempest may rage
We will rest in your joy
Bind us together in peace
Bind us together and give us hope
Bind us together and give us endless hope
Though our tears were our bread
We will feast in your joy
Bind us together in hope
Bind us together and make us one
Bind us together and make us truly one
In your love in your peace
In your hope in your joy
Bind us together as one
Closing Song | Yet Not I but Through Christ in Me
What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy my righteousness and freedom
My steadfast love my deep and boundless peace
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to his
Oh how strange and divine I can sing all is mine
Yet not I but through Christ in me
The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side the Savior he will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need his power is displayed
To this I hold my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley he will lead
Oh the night has been won and I shall overcome
Yet not I but through Christ in me
No fate I dread I know I am forgiven
The future sure the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And he was raised to overthrow the grave
To this I hold my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released I can sing I am free
Yet not I but through Christ in me
With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For he has said that he will bring me home
And day by day I know he will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to him
When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I but through Christ in me
Benediction and Dismissal
Minister: Let us go forth to serve the world as those who love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
All: Thanks be to God!
