Welcome | Rev. Alan Charnock, Director of Community Engagement

Call to Worship | Psalm 63:1, 4-5
Leader: You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
All: I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Song of Praise | Holy, Holy, Holy
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning

Our song shall rise to thee
Holy, holy, holy,
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Holy, holy, holy
All the saints adore thee
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before thee
Who was, and is
And evermore shall be

Holy, holy, holy
Though the darkness hide thee
Though the eyes of sinful man
Thy glory may not see
Only thou art holy
There is none beside thee
Perfect in power
In love, and purity

Holy, holy, holy
Lord God Almighty
All thy works shall praise thy name
In earth, and sky, and sea
Holy, holy, holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Song of Praise | Our Psalm 23
When our lives are filled with questions
And our souls are restless you’re our remedy
We will follow you regardless
We will sing your promise heaven’s melody
Oh and it is so sweet

When we’re lost, when it’s hard
When we’re tired, and the future’s dark
Why should we fear
When we know you’re near

(Chorus)
The Lord is our shepherd
He is always near
Though he leads through the valley
Of the shadow of death
We will not fear
The Lord is our shepherd
We will persevere
Though he leads though the valley
Of the shadow of death
We will not fear

(Bridge x 2)
Hallelujah you never left us
Hallelujah you never left us
Hallelujah you never left us
Oh we will not fear

When the world is filled with chaos
And our hopes and dreams
Feel like a memory
We will rest in your protection
When our faith is tested
You’re our covering
Our justice and our peace

We may rise, we may fall
You’re our strength through it all
Why should we fear
When we know you’re near

(Chorus)

(Bridge x 3)
Hallelujah you never left us
Hallelujah you never left us
Hallelujah you never left us
Oh we will not fear

Prayer of Adoration (Concluded by the Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Doxology | Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Amen

Prayer of Confession | Psalm 130:1-6
Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Silent Confession

Words of Encouragement | Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Prayers of the People

Song of Praise | So Great Is Your Love
You are compassionate and gracious
Slow to anger, abounding in love
For as high as the heavens
Are above all the earth

(Chorus)
So great is your love
Your love for those who fear You
As far as the east is from the west
So far have you removed my sins
From me, from me

For you remember how you’ve made us
Out of earth, returning again
My life blooms like a flower
In a field, then it’s gone

(Chorus)

Offering
Gracious God, everything we have comes from you. As we remember who you are and all you have done for us, enable us to be truly generous—with our money, our time, and all we are and have. Use what we give for your glory and the good of our city. Amen.

Greetings and Announcements

Scripture Reading | John 6:25-40
25 When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”

26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

30 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (NIV)

Sermon | Bread of Life by Rev. Andrew Field

Song of Response | Unless You Build the House
Unless you build the house
I build in vain
Unless you’re with me now
My spirit wanes
I need a voice to ring out
Across the plain
The Lord will build the house
The Lord will build the house

Have I been eating bread
Of anxious toil
Will you anoint my head
With precious oil
And will you plant what you’ve said
In fertile soil
And on it build your house
And on it build your house

(Chorus)
You give your beloved sleep
Your beloved sleep
You give your beloved sleep
In your house

You have delivered me
From all my fears
Now give me faith to see
That you are near
Your very presence in me
Lord I believe
In me you’ve built your house
In me you’ve built your house

(Chorus)

Song of Response | Honey in the Rock
There’s honey in the rock
Water in the stone
Manna on the ground
No matter where I go
I don’t need to worry
Now that I know
Everything I need You’ve got
There’s honey in the rock

Praying for a miracle
Thirsty for the Living Well
Only You can satisfy

Sweetness at the mercy seat
Now I’ve tasted it’s not hard to see
Only You can satisfy

There’s honey in the rock (x4)

Freedom where the Spirit is
Bounty in the wilderness
You will always satisfy

There’s honey in the rock
Water in the stone
Manna on the ground
No matter where I go
I don’t need to worry
Now that I know
Everything I need You’ve got

There’s honey in the rock
Purpose in Your plan
Power in the blood
Healing in Your hands
Started flowing when You said it is done
Everything You did’s enough

I keep looking
I keep finding
You keep giving
Keep providing
I have all that I need
You are all that I need

I keep praying
You keep moving
I keep praising
You keep proving
I have all that I need
You are all that I need

I have all that I need
You are all that I need

There’s honey in the rock
Water in the stone
Manna on the ground
No matter where I go
I don’t need to worry
Now that I know
Everything I need You’ve got

There’s honey in the rock
Purpose in Your plan
Power in the blood
Healing in Your hands
Started flowing when You said it is done
Jesus who You are is enough

There’s honey in the rock
There’s honey in the rock
There’s honey in the rock

Oh how sweet
How sweet it is to trust in You Jesus
Oh how sweet
How sweet it is to trust in You Jesus
Oh how sweet
How sweet it is to trust in You Jesus
