Welcome | Rev. Andrew Field, Executive Pastor

Call to Worship | from Revelation 4
Leader: You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.
All: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.

Song of Praise | Holy, Holy, Holy
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning

Our song shall rise to thee
Holy, holy, holy,
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Holy, holy, holy
All the saints adore thee
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before thee
Who was, and is
And evermore shall be

Holy, holy, holy
Though the darkness hide thee
Though the eyes of sinful man
Thy glory may not see
Only thou art holy
There is none beside thee
Perfect in power
In love, and purity

Holy, holy, holy
Lord God Almighty
All thy works shall praise thy name
In earth, and sky, and sea
Holy, holy, holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Song of Praise | This Is Amazing Grace
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger?
The King of glory, the King above all kings

Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder?
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?
The King of glory, the King above all kings

(Chorus)
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You’ve done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order?
Who makes the orphans a son and daughter?
The King of glory, the King of glory

Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of glory, the King above all kings

(Chorus)

(Bridge – 4x)
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave

(Chorus)

Prayer of Adoration (Concluded by the Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Silent Praise and Thanksgiving

Doxology | All Ye Who Are of Tender Heart
All ye who are of tender heart
Forgiving others take your part
O praise him Alleluia
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear
Praise God and on him cast your care
O praise him, O praise him
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Let all things their creator bless
And worship him with humbleness
O praise him, Alleluia
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son
And praise the Spirit, Three in One
O praise him, O praise him
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Prayer of Confession
O Lord, you have mercy on all.
Take away my sins, and mercifully kindle in me the fire of your Holy Spirit.
Take away my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh, a heart to love and adore you, a heart to
delight in you, to follow and to enjoy you, for Christ’s sake.
Amen.

Silent Confession

Words of Encouragement | Psalm 103:11-12
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Song of Praise | So Great Is Your Love
You are compassionate and gracious
Slow to anger, abounding in love
For as high as the heavens
Are above all the earth

So great is your love
Your love for those who fear You
As far as the east is from the west
So far have you removed my sins
From me, from me

For you remember how you’ve made us
Out of earth, returning again
My life blooms like a flower
In a field, then it’s gone

Greetings and Announcements

Scripture Reading | Romans 8:28-39
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV)

Sermon | All Things for Good by Rev. Bijan Mirtolooi

Apostle’s Creed
All: I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*[meaning, the true Christian church of all times and all places]

Prayer of Approach

Words of Institution
Minister: Therefore we proclaim the mystery of the faith:
All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
Minister: Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.
All: Therefore let us keep the feast.
Minister: The gifts of God for the people of God.

Prayers for Those Not Taking the Lord’s Supper.
Redeemer Presbyterian Church welcomes all baptized Christians who actively trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, who are willing to forsake their sin, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the gospel to receive the Holy Communion with us. Baptized children are welcome to receive Communion when they have been confirmed in their faith. If you are not able to receive Communion, please use this time to meditate on one of the following prayers.

Prayer for Those Searching for Truth.
Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life you promise. Amen.

Prayer of Belief.
Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared admit, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Commitment.
Lord Jesus, you have called us to follow you in baptism and in a life of committed discipleship through membership in your church. Grant that I may take the necessary steps to be one with your people, and live in the fullness of your Spirit. Amen.

[If you are saying the prayer of belief for the first time today, please share with a church officer up front, or let one of the pastors know.]

Reflection Song | Nothing but the Blood
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

(Chorus)
O precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

This is all my hope and peace
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
This is all my righteousness
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

(Chorus)

Glory! Glory! This I sing
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
All my praise for this I bring
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ

Prayer of Thanksgiving
All: Gracious Lord, we give you thanks for calling us out of the darkness and into your glorious light. When we remember the price you paid, the death of your only Son, we wonder and marvel at the greatness of your love. We give our lives to you Lord, and pray that through your Spirit you would teach us how to live according to your will. Send us out now to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of your mercy. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Closing Song | Christ Our Hope in Life and Death
What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand

(Chorus)
O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?

(Chorus)

Unto the grave, what will we sing?
“Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him
There we will rise to meet the Lord
Then sin and death will be destroyed
And we will feast in endless joy
When Christ is ours forevermore

(Chorus)
