Welcome | Jamie Yoo, Senior Director of Community & Counseling
Call to Worship | Psalm 33:20-22
Leader: We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
All: In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Song of Praise | Jesus Shall Reign
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Does its successive journeys run
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore
Till moons shall wax and wane no more
To him shall endless prayer be made
And praises throng to crown his head
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice
(Chorus)
Jesus shall reign
Jesus shall reign
Jesus shall reign
Always
People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on his love with sweetest song
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on his name
Blessings abound where’er he reigns
The prisoners leap to lose their chains
The weary find eternal rest
And all who suffer want are blest
(Chorus)
Let every creature rise and bring
The highest honors to our King
Angels descend with songs again
And earth repeat the loud amen
Song of Praise | What Is Good
God has shown you what is good
God has shown you what is good
Oh sister, what does the Lord require of you?
God has shown you what is good
God has shown you what is good
Oh brother, what does the Lord require of you?
(Chorus)
To act justly
To love mercy
To walk humbly with your God
To act justly
To love mercy
To walk humbly with your God
To walk humbly with your God
God has shown you what is good
God has shown you what is good
Oh family, what does the Lord require of you
(Chorus)
Prayer of Adoration (Concluded by the Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Silent Praise and Thanksgiving
Doxology | All Ye Who Are of Tender Heart
All ye who are of tender heart
Forgiving others take your part
O praise him Alleluia
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear
Praise God and on him cast your care
O praise him, O praise him
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Let all things their creator bless
And worship him with humbleness
O praise him, Alleluia
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son
And praise the Spirit, Three in One
O praise him, O praise him
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, your face is hidden from us by our sins, and we forget your mercy in the blindness of our hearts.
Cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires.
With lowliness and meekness may we draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son.
Amen.
Silent Confession
Words of Encouragement | 1 John 4:9-10
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Ordination and Commissioning of Diaconate | Rev. Andrew Field, Executive Pastor
Song of Praise | Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not,Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
(Chorus)
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
(Chorus)
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
(Chorus)
Greetings and Announcements
Scripture Reading | Habakkuk 3:16-19
16 I heard and my heart pounded,
my lips quivered at the sound;
decay crept into my bones,
and my legs trembled.
Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity
to come on the nation invading us.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
For the director of music. On my stringed instruments. (NIV)
Sermon | Yet I Will Rejoice by Rev. Bijan Mirtolooi
Reflection Song | O for a Thousand Tongues To Sing
O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace
Jesus, the name that charms our fears
That bids our sorrows cease
It’s music in the sinner’s ears
It’s life, and health, and peace
(Chorus)
He speaks, and listening to His voice
New life the dead receive
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice
The humble poor believe
The humble poor believe
He breaks the power of cancelled sin
He sets the prisoner free
His blood can make the foulest clean
His blood availed for me
My gracious Master and my God
Assist me to proclaim
To spread through all the earth abroad
The honors of Your name
(Chorus)
Closing Song | Joy Comes in the Morning
Praise you when I’m overwhelmed
Praise you in my brokenness
Praise you so I don’t forget
Who you are
Who you are
Praise you when I’ve lost my way
Praise you when I’m so afraid
Praise you ‘cause it doesn’t change
Who you are
Who you are
(Chorus x 2)
Weeping may endure for the night
But joy comes in the morning
Praise you when I’m empty-handed
Praise you when I feel abandoned
Praise you cause I’m not alone
You see me
You see me
Praise you when the road is long
Praise you when my faith is gone
Praise you cause you hear the song
I’m singing
I’m singing
I will fear no evil
I know you are with me
Closer than I think you are
Closer than I think you are
Fighting all my battles
Lighting every shadow
Closer than I think you are
Closer than I think you are
