In this sermon we find John the Baptist equated with the long awaited promise found in Isaiah of a Messiah. John’s voice is one that is calling us out of a wilderness in order to hear Jesus’ sacred call to follow him. Jesus is the one to whom John was pointing who will lead us out of the wilderness into a life that completely rearranges our priorities and gives it transcendent meaning.
