Book: Isaiah

Scripture: Isaiah 40:1-11

The first 39 chapters of Isaiah speak constantly of judgment. Sin’s destructive effects are showing themselves in individual, cultural, and family breakdown. Then, starting in chapter 40, everything changes. Suddenly the book of Isaiah jumps ahead into the future. It is addressed to Israel who is still in exile in Babylon, and it is written for their encouragement and hope. In this famous passage we will explore the promise of comfort in the anticipation of the coming of Jesus.
