This sermon will explore the nature of our sacred call in light of the fact that the human community is all in the ‘same boat’. As Ellul points out in his commentary on Jonah: “The safety of all depends on what each does…They are in the same storm, subject to the same peril, and they want the same outcome…and this ship typifies our situation.” Christians are to seek the common good and appreciate the common grace of their neighbors. Other themes include the fair critique of Christians (the church) by those outside of the faith and the ways in which the church can contribute to healing the city.
Lent season is upon us! Use this time to reflect on what Jesus has done for us.
