WS Update: A Season of Waiting

December 1, 2025

The weeks leading up to Christmas are called Advent. Throughout history, Christians have used this season as a training ground to practice the discipline of waiting on God.

Advent is a season of waiting. But waiting is hard. Everything in our culture teaches us to prioritize speed and to value getting things done fast. While there are no doubt some advantages to the speed of life today, the Bible tells us that in the spiritual realm things often happen slowly. Even though most of modern life moves fast, God’s work in the world–and in our lives–moves at the same pace it always has. Therefore, learning how to wait on God is an essential practice for a growing Christian life.

Our Advent sermon series at RWS this year is called “In the Waiting Room.” Our sermons will cover four different Psalms that help us learn how to wait on God for the fulfillment of his promises to us and to our world.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Bijan

Our #GivingTuesday goal of $25,000 will support new family ministry initiatives that guide parents, children, and teens to know the living God. We’ve spent years building a great children and youth ministry, and we hope to expand to supporting whole families in 2026. Whether it’s your first time giving to Redeemer or you are a regular contributor, the combination of small gifts from everyone can make a significant impact as we build a brighter future for our city.
