Redeemer West Side’s vision for the 2025-2026 ministry year is “To Know the Living God”: that you might grow in your knowledge of God, and that you can help others come to know God, too.
There’s a world of difference between merely knowing about something and knowing that same thing through experience. For example: I know that there’s a place in the world called the Maldives. I’ve seen it on maps; I’ve talked to people I trust who have been there. But I’ve never experienced it. But if you’ve been to the Maldives, you know about it too, but our knowledge is of a completely different quality. Yours is a richer knowledge that’s rooted in experience.
When Jesus said that life to the fullest consists of knowing God (John 17:3), he wasn’t talking about merely having information and facts about God. He was talking about walking with God, trusting him, living with him day-by-day. John Stott, the 20th-century London minister, summarized it well: a true knowledge of God “adds the knowledge of experience to the knowledge of understanding.”
September 21 is Vision Sunday for us at Redeemer West Side. During both of our worship services that day, you’ll hear about new initiatives happening this year that will enable us to know the living God, and to help others know him, too.

New Leaders and New Hosts
In preparation for the new ministry year, a season where we are welcoming many newcomers into our church, we are asking for all of you to get excited with us and help us launch new pilot community groups! Please take a moment to think: who has a welcoming spirit and places their trust in the word of God? Who has been a great encouragement to you in your own CG? And practically speaking, who might have space to have six or more folks over to hang out for a couple of hours? Please recommend someone you know (or volunteer yourself) to serve as a Pilot CG leader or host.
