what are you signing up for?Sunday Hospitality Teams help our church services run smoothly and create a welcoming environment for all who attend.Serve just once a month—that’s only 12 times a year!
in-service
ushers: Often the first face seen when people come to church, ushers welcome in parishioners, hand out bulletins, and help find seats, all with the goal of creating a welcoming environment.
communion (RWS membership required): Communion servers have the privilege of distributing the elements of the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of every month.

5th floor coffee hour
book table: Ideal for avid readers who are enthusiastic about Christian literature and comfortable interacting with others. Must be comfortable using an iPad for sales.
welcome table: It’s all in the name! Whether it’s making connections between visitors and RWS, providing handouts or having a friendly conversation. Making people feel welcome is what this team is all about!
church family meal: Being a part of a church is being a part of a family. Join a monthly team of new friends as you serve your brothers and sisters a meal.

From nursery, to preschool, to sixth grade, we need volunteers to assist our teachers in the classrooms. If you have a heart for families and children, come serve with us!

Why volunteer with the West Side Kids?

You are needed: The number of children who attend Redeemer has doubled in the last few years. We need you!
Build community: Your investment in the lives of families and fellow volunteers at Redeemer allows for deeper community. Parents have expressed how the community of West Side Kids volunteers helps their families stay in the city.
What we expect from our volunteers
- Completing the volunteer application form.
- Pass a background check.
- Attending a volunteer training.
- Adhering to our Children’s Ministry policies.

- Fellowship and community with other volunteers and Redeemer families.
- Service and training opportunities.
- Prayer from Redeemer’s Prayer Team for your volunteer team.
Parent volunteers
We ask that all parents be an active part of West Side Kids by volunteering regularly or 6 Sundays per year per parent. As we now have two services, you won’t need to miss service. Please consider attending one service and volunteering at the other service monthly. Click here to sign up to serve in our nursery, preschool, or elementary classes. Regular parent volunteers will be asked to complete a background check.
west side youth
We are in need of fun, mature, and passionate volunteer leaders who share in our vision: to see middle and high school students explore Christianity deeply, take ownership of their faith in Jesus, thrive in a loving community, and participate in God’s mission in and through the church for New York City and beyond.
Our Friday night Youth Group meets from 7 to 9 pm at the W83 Ministry Center from September to June during the year. We also do many other fun events throughout the year like retreats, service projects, and so on.
