Welcome | Chris Weldon, Senior Director of Worship Arts

Call to Worship | Psalm 113:4-6
Leader: The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens.
All: Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?

Song of Praise | Crown Him With Many Crowns
Crown him with many crowns
The lamb upon his throne
Hark, how the heavenly anthem drowns
All music but its own
Awake, my soul and sing
Of him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy matchless king
Through all eternity

Crown him the lord of love
Behold his hands and side
Rich wounds, yet visible above
In beauty glorified
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight
But downward bends his burning eye
At mysteries so bright

Crown Him the lord of life
Who triumphed o’er the grave
Who rose victorious in the strife
For those he came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die

Crown him the lord of peace
Whose power a scepter sways

From pole to pole, that wars may cease
And all be prayer and praise
Crown him with many crowns
As thrones before him fall
Crown him, you kings, with many crowns
For he is king of all

Song of Praise | Jesus Shall Reign
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Does its successive journeys run
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore
Till moons shall wax and wane no more

To him shall endless prayer be made
And praises throng to crown his head
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice

(Chorus)
Jesus shall reign
Jesus shall reign
Jesus shall reign
Always

People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on his love with sweetest song
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on his name

Blessings abound where’er he reigns
The prisoners leap to lose their chains
The weary find eternal rest
And all who suffer want are blest

(Chorus)

Let every creature rise and bring
The highest honors to our King
Angels descend with songs again
And earth repeat the loud amen

Prayer of Adoration (Concluded by the Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Doxology | Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Amen

Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, your face is hidden from us by our sins, and we forget your mercy in the blindness of our hearts.
Cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires.
With lowliness and meekness may we draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son.
Amen.

Silent Confession

Words of Encouragement | 1 John 4:9-10
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Song of Response | This Is How We Know What Love Is
This is how we know what love is
Jesus Christ laid down His life for us

This is how we know what love is
Jesus Christ laid down His life for us
Father help us love like Jesus

So if we see
Someone in need
Let our hearts have mercy
We have so much
More than enough
Let us share it freely

This is how we know what love is
Jesus Christ laid down His life for us

This is how we know what love is
Jesus Christ laid down His life for us
Father help us love like Jesus

So if we see
Someone in need
Let our hearts have mercy
We have so much
More than enough
Let us share it freely

Father help us love each other
Every sister every brother
In the way we treat each other
Love like Jesus

Offering
Gracious God, everything we have comes from you. As we remember who you are and all you have done for us, enable us to be truly generous—with our money, our time, and all we are and have. Use what we give for your glory and the good of our city. Amen.

Greetings and Announcements

Scripture Reading | 1 Peter 4:8-11
8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (NIV)

Sermon | Service by Rev. Alan Charnock

Apostle’s Creed
All: I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*[meaning, the true Christian church of all times and all places]

Prayer of Approach

Words of Institution
Minister: Therefore we proclaim the mystery of the faith:
All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
Minister: Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.
All: Therefore let us keep the feast.
Minister: The gifts of God for the people of God.

Invitation: We welcome all baptized Christians who actively trust in Jesus for salvation, forsake their sin, and are members of gospel churches to receive Communion. Baptized children may receive Communion when they are confirmed in their faith. If you are not ready to receive Communion, please use this time to meditate on one of these prayers.

Prayer for those searching for truth:

Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the free, beautiful, and good life you promise. Amen.

Prayer of belief:

Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared admit, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen.

[If you are praying in belief for the first time today, please share with a church leader or one of the pastors so we can help you.]

Song of Response | Take My Life and Let It Be
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in endless praise
Let them flow in endless praise

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee
Swift and beautiful for Thee

Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee
Filled with messages from Thee

Take my will and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine
Take my heart; it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne
It shall be Thy royal throne

Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee
Ever, only, all for Thee

Partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ

Song of Response | We Will Feast in the House of Zion
(Chorus)
We will feast in the house of Zion
We will sing with our hearts restored
He has done great things we will say together
We will feast and weep no more

We will not be burned by the fire
He is the Lord our God
We are not consumed by the flood
Upheld, protected, gathered up

(Chorus)

In the dark of night before the dawn
My soul be not afraid
For the promised morning oh how long
Oh God of Jacob be my strength

(Chorus)

Every vow we’ve broken and betrayed
You are the faithful one
And from the garden to the grave
Bind us together bring shalom

(Chorus)

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Gracious Lord, we give you thanks for calling us out of the darkness and into your glorious light. When we remember the price you paid, the death of your only Son, we wonder and marvel at the greatness of your love. We give our lives to you Lord, and pray that through your Spirit you would teach us how to live according to your will. Send us out now to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of your mercy. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
