“Re/collecting” by Carolyn Louth | Solo Exhibit and Opening Reception

Dive into “Re/collecting” as Carolyn ponders why she holds on to clothes she no longer wears and ponders how to let them go…
“This exhibit is an exploration of memory and meaning as well as an invitation to reconsider one’s closet. “Re/collecting” could also be seen as a sartorial scrapbook, a therapeutic exercise, or a waste of time. It is definitely a process, and I admit, sometimes it feels like I am making more difficult what could be done in one swift, clean sweep. But more often, making space in this way feels as though I am preparing myself for greater loss—facing finitude—which I know is not a one-size-fits-all kinda thing.”
You’re invited to attend Carolyn Louth’s solo exhibit, “Re/collecting,” and experience her unique artistic vision.
Thursday, September 3 at 7 pm.
Doors open at 6:30 pm.

About the Artist:
Carolyn Louth grew up in a small town near New Orleans and pursued her passion for the arts with a BFA from Louisiana State University. After graduating, she moved to Atlanta, where she joined the creatives at HowStuffWorks and also started playing ultimate frisbee. In 2005, she made the leap to New York, and as a freelance art director, designed print and digital materials for clients in many different fields. A desire to focus her work on sustainability and advocacy efforts led her to complete the IMPACT! Design for Social Change residency program at the School of Visual Arts in 2013. “Re/collecting” grew from a personal catalog of resale clothing on Poshmark into a solo exhibition that draws upon her professional experience as a visual artist, storyteller, and founding team member of Here to Honor.
