Though the Bible begins in darkness, God’s first words found in Genesis bring hope with the advent of light. Here Isaiah prophetically imagines the coming of the Lord to bring about that same hope-filled joy for those living in the distress of darkness. This transforming light comes in the form of a child who will sit on David’s throne.
