This is a sermon on identity flowing from the question found in 1:8 – “Who are you?”. We derive our identity from all kinds of spheres (work, citizenship, ethnicity). Jonah is depicted as someone whose primary identity seems to be his ethnic and religious one, looking down on those around him who are outside of his tribe. We live in a time of fluid and conflicting identities. What do we learn from Jonah about the nature of a true human identity?
