“What do you want me to do for you?” (Mark 10:51). In other words, do we really know what we want out of life? Jesus asks this question twice, first to two of his apostles who want seats of honor in his kingdom. The second time he asks blind Bartimeaus. Jesus spars with the first request due to their covetousness and misunderstanding, though he doesn’t shut them down. Jesus grants the second request immediately. He wants to hear what we want. Processing our desires with Jesus helps us see them for what they are.
