“Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” (Mark 3:4). In other words, what do we owe people? In the three scenes of this text, Jesus shows that “Sabbath is made for man.” Rest is built into the created order. The first day of Adam’s life is the Sabbath day; he wakes up to a day of rest. The Sabbath calling is not less than a day with no work, but it’s more: to bring shalom, full-orbed rest to the creation.
Lent season is upon us! Use this time to reflect on what Jesus has done for us.
