Advent is about God coming to heal a world that’s in decay. The world in which we’ve been living since March 2020 has underscored the need for healing. In this passage we see that this healing from decay will come from a shoot growing out of a stump. The imagery finds resonance in our world where we are looking for signs of life in the midst of decay. The coming King will do this through the power of the Spirit that rests upon him, laying the groundwork for the restoration of Eden.
Lent season is upon us! Use this time to reflect on what Jesus has done for us.
