This is the classic psalm explicitly inviting the nations to praise, opening: “Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!” The psalmist says the gods of the nations are worthless idols. The Lord made the heavens and his earthly sanctuary, both sources of awe-inspiring strength and beauty. The Lord reigns, and slights of his justice will be brought to judgment, which is good news. Even creation will burst into song when he comes to judge the world in righteousness and faithfulness.
