The letter of Ephesians offers a “vision of a renewed community characterized by life in place of death, unity and reconciliation in place of division and alienation, love and peace instead of hatred and strife and by unremitting conflict with evil in place of flabby compromise with it.” (Stott). The road to this renewed community begins with recognizing the struggle against the “powers of this dark world.” Today we’ll explore the Biblical vocabulary of the human struggle with evil and the danger of defining evil in material terms.
