WS Update: Community Restores Our Mental Health

February 24, 2025

We are designed to be known and loved. Yet since the fall, we often hide in shame—from God and one another (Gen 3:7). On April 5, renowned psychiatrist and author Curt Thompson, MD explores how the experience of being known and loved within a supportive community can profoundly restore mental health and wholeness. He’ll draw on his expertise in interpersonal neurobiology, theology, and psychiatry to illuminate the cause of shame and inspire us to cultivate transformative spaces of belonging, vulnerability, and restoration.

In the afternoon workshop, “The Neuroscience of Spiritual Formation,” discover how brain science informs our understanding of prayer, meditation, Scripture reading, and community. Learn practical exercises for integrating these principles into personal and group spiritual practices to know God and be known by Him more deeply. Then, in the evening session, “The Soul of Shame: Finding Freedom and Healing,”  gain a deeper understanding of the biblical story of shame and God’s redemptive response. Thompson will provide ways to recognize and process shame and trauma, showing how communities of grace and Shalom are places of healing. We can become outposts of wisdom, beauty, and goodness.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the power of connection, vulnerability, and healing.

Grace and Peace,
Drew
