In her book, Stay Salt, Rebecca Pippert points out that the message of the gospel–Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection–is “quite simply the best news ever!” She then asks,
If this is so, why do so many Christians struggle to share the glorious news of the gospel? How can we believe that there is no greater news in the world but still feel unable or unwilling to tell others?
One way Christians grow with joyful confidence in sharing the gospel is by first experiencing that gospel as good news for themselves. Whenever you experience something wonderful, your instinct is to tell others about it. We want to share good news with others.
This coming Sunday, as we continue our series on spiritual practices, our sermon will explore the practice of “witness”: sharing the gospel with others. Looking at a wonderful narrative from 2 Kings 7, we’ll discover afresh how truly good the news of the gospel is, and ways we can grow in confidence in sharing the “best news ever” with our friends and neighbors.

Prayer Walk
Join us for an afternoon prayer walk to see our neighborhood through God’s eyes. Prayer walks are designed to cultivate our corporate prayer life as a church and strengthen our community in faith and fellowship.
We’ll begin with a light lunch and a brief orientation at Redeemer West Side. Afterward, we will split into groups to walk and pray around the Upper West Side, then return to Redeemer West Side for a short debrief. Families with children are welcome; those attending solo must be at least 16 years old.
Nominations for Elected Leaders are Open Now
As the church continues to grow, so does our need for leaders to serve as ruling elders or, in the mercy ministry, as deacons and deaconesses (affectionately known as “deeks”). So each year, we invite the church to pray for nominees, and for church members to submit their nominations online. This year, we have moved the nomination period to begin before the summer in order to accommodate an updated training and discernment process. Nominations for elders will be accepted during the month of June. Nominations for deacons and deaconesses will be accepted from June 1 through September 30.
