WS Update: The Hope and Joy of Music

October 14, 2024

In 1964, Martin Luther King, Jr. gave the opening address for the Berlin Jazz Festival. As he spoke about music’s power to connect to your soul and provide hope, he said:

Everybody has the Blues. Everybody longs for meaning. Everybody needs to love and be loved. Everybody needs to clap hands and be happy. Everybody longs for faith. In music, especially this broad category called Jazz, there is a stepping stone towards all of these.

We all carry these deep longings: to love and be loved. Everyone in our city wants to clap hands and be happy. We all want, and need, meaning in life.

For that reason, I invite you to think about who you can bring along with you to attend our next Live @ W83 event, happening on Friday, October 18. One of our very own Redeemer West Siders, Victor Lin, will lead a concert of jazz improvisations inspired by anime classics. This promises to be an evening not only of great fun, but also a chance to experience God’s hope and joy, as it comes to us in and through music.

All the information to register is below. Hope you can join in!

In Christ,
