WS Update: Work Matters to God and God Matters to Work

October 20, 2025

One of our church’s enduring convictions is that your work matters to God and God matters to your work. As Lauren Gill, Senior Director of the Global Faith and Work Initiative, reminds us, “work” in this sense is

Any activity that is not rest and not leisure, paid or unpaid. God uses all of our activities to cultivate his creation—work, parenting, community organizing, caretaking of aging parents, volunteering on boards… [these] daily activities are something God is working in and through.

Yesterday’s sermon from Genesis 2 began to explore some of the major biblical themes regarding the integration of faith and work. If you’d like to further explore what the Bible says about work and vocation, I encourage you to join our Faith & Work 101 course that begins tonight and continues for five weeks.

With hope,

Pastor Bijan
