“The clothing we wear often is linked to human trafficking. It’s estimated that 98% of clothing was made with exploited labor or straight up child labor. As a fashion designer, I take a stand to do the exact opposite of this. For over a decade, my company, Elegantees, has been employing survivors of human trafficking, and women that were at risk, to make the clothing. The redemptive workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal is restoring lives, one elegant tee at a time” – K.M
Join us for Sewn to Restore to see the visual story by designer Katie Martinez, Founder of Elegantees.com through the lens of Prabin Kumari-Karki. Experience at this exhibit and fashion show a representation of healing, dignity, and hope, through empowerment, and the fight against slavery and human trafficking.
Elegantees fashion show will be held at W83 during NYFW on Saturday, September 7 at 5 pm.
